Home

Quite often people ask me how I like Columbus. My answer without a doubt is we absolutely love it.*  After living in Gainesville for 10+ years it was time for a change. For many reasons this move came at the perfect time.  Not only professionally but personally.  One of the reasons I like Columbus the most, is that it has more to offer than just being a college town.  There is so much more to do.  I like that Columbus has a big city feel but isn't too big or overwhelming. There are so many local restaurants I feel like we could never eat at them all.  With Mark's job the possibility of us living in another college town is very likely. But until then we are going to enjoy our new "big city" life and our new team while we can.
*Ask me again after we experience an actual winter and my answer will probably change.

During the 28 hours that we were gone we came home to some new pets.  Our dog sitters discovered baby birds by our front door! They must have hatched a little while after we left.  There were 5 babies but now we are down to 2.  They keep falling out of the nest.  Poor things! I keep checking on them and Mark is paranoid the mom bird is going to attack me.  Even though we have yet to see her.  Is there anyway to tell if she is actually feeding them?
This is where the nest is located. Right by our front door.

Memorial Day Weekend

This past weekend we were in Lake Lanier, Ga for a very quick trip for Trisha & Hendrick's Wedding! Prepare yourself for photo overload.  This was our 2nd wedding at the Lake Lanier Islands Resort and it never disappoints.  It is beautiful. They also now have a water park and zip lining.
So pretty
Here comes the bride!

You may kiss the bride!
Pretty!
First dance
And they lived happily ever after...

Speak your mind

  • I'm looking forward to a very quick, 28 hrs to be exact, trip to Lake Lanier, Ga for my cousins wedding.
  • Mark has informed me he no longer wants turkey sandwiches for lunch.  Does anyone have any lunch suggestion for him? Seriously. Please send me lots of suggestions!!
  • On the food subject, does anyone have any good meal ideas for cooking for two. I hate leftovers.
  • If anyone would like to purchase the following bracelets for me that would be fab. Bangle Set, Link Bracelet, and if you really want to spulge Pave Link Bracelet. Please and thank you!
  • Apparently painting your driveway black is the cool thing to do in Columbus.  Is this normal and why are they doing it??
  • Happy Memorial Day Weekend!!

Slow Cooker Salsa Chicken

I originally saw this recipe on the Tales of Trees Blog.  And since tacos are a staple item in our house I knew I wanted to try it.  They did not disappoint and we will definitely be added to our dinner rotation. Very simple and oh so yummy!!  Fyi, the soup and salsa mixture reduces down to a runny liquid. This worried me at first but when you shred the chicken it works out perfectly.  Mark gave it 5 stars!

Weed of not?

If you follow me on twitter you have probably seen me ask multiple times what type of plant/flower/tree something is or if it's a weed? I swear Ohio has a ton of different trees than Florida.  One of the positives about our house is that it came with its own flowers.  It's been fun to watch and see which new flowers pop up. Or my personal favorite, figuring out if it's a weed or not. The only problem is that I have no idea how to maintain these flowers. I'm not even sure how often I need to water them. Have you ever encountered weeds with little thorns? We have these too.  Ouch. I'm hoping not to destroy our yard.
Are you supposed to trim these??
What's left of our tulips.  Should I do something with their remains??
I originally thought this was a weed. It probably really is.
Still debating if this is a weed or not?
As you can see I need some serious help.

Me likey: Boom!

I've said this before, I am a sucker for holiday decor.  And the 4th of July is no different.  The 4th holds a special place in my heart because it's our anniversary.  Below are a few of my favorite 4th or even perfect for Memorial Day decor/food items. It's never too early to start planning. I am still searching for the perfect yet simple dessert. One day I will get up the nerve to bake the flag cake that is all over Pinterest.
